Letters: Another Ridley-Thomas rises
Re “Another Ridley-Thomas gets win,” Dec. 5
Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, using his father Mark Ridley-Thomas’ name and connections, was able to raise more than $600,000 to win the race for the 54th Assembly District seat. In light of his enormous work history of more than four years, I’m sure he’s eminently qualified for the position.
Here’s an idea: Let’s just put all these seats up for auction. The candidate with the most money almost always wins. This way the money could go directly into the appropriate general fund (state, county and city), and we could all stop pretending that money doesn’t matter in politics.
