A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting his girlfriend outside a Domino’s Pizza restaurant in San Bernardino, police said Wednesday night.
Pedro Duquense is accused of killing Nelly Chi Kantun on Wednesday morning outside the restaurant where the victim worked, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
“They had apparently been having relationship problems,” Lt. Rich Lawhead said in a statement.
Officers found Kantun lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died, police said.
Kantun, a Highland resident and mother of three, had worked as a manager at the restaurant for more than 20 years, according to a report from KTLA-TV Channel 5.
“Nelly was a wonderful mother, a wonderful manager and we are absolutely devastated,” franchise owner Doyle La Mountain told the station.
Police said Duquense was arrested without incident several hours after the shooting. No weapon was found on Duquense, who allegedly confessed to shooting the victim, Lawhead said.
