Tomahawk-throwing champion chases burglar from home with ax
A tomahawk-throwing champion chased a burglar from her Hemet home with an ax Saturday after he tried to steal a watch from her wrist while she slept, police said.
When the woman awoke Saturday morning to find a man in her apartment trying to steal her watch, she “armed herself with a throwing ax and chased the suspect from her residence,†according to a statement from the Hemet Police Department.
Officers, who received the call about 8:20 a.m., went to the home in the 2200 block of West Acacia Avenue and searched the area.
Officer Dave Purcell saw a bicycle tire protruding from a bush nearby and discovered Nicholas Ulloa, 22, hiding behind it with several bags of property containing items with the caller’s name on them.
The tomahawk-throwing champion identified the property, and Ulloa was booked on suspicion of first-degree burglary. He was later taken to Riverside County Jail.
