Sausage Fest, Taste of LA at Breeder’s Cup, La Botte’s new LApertivo

Fig Restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel and Executive chef Ray Garcia will host their 2nd Annual Sausage Fest Oct. 27. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Garcia, Christian Page (Short Order), Kris Morningstar (Rays and Stark Bar), Jason Travi (Little Fork), Bernhard Mairinger (Bierbeisl), Greg Daniels (Haven Gastropub) and Paul Buchanan (Primal Alchemy) will serve up artisanal brats and beers. Taste of L.A. will take place during the Breeder’s World Championships at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia Nov. 1 and 2. Nine Los Angeles chefs and vendors will prepare food in the park’s Seabiscuit Court during the races. Each offering will be priced at $7. Participating vendors include Goodie Girls Cupcakes, Bling Bling Dumplings, Coolhaus, Currywurst, Komodo, El Huaracha Azteca, Papa Cristo’s Greek Grill, The Park’s Finest and Sno Con Amor. General admission tickets to the Breeder’s Cup, with access to the Taste of L.A., can be purchased at www.breederscup.com. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Seabiscuit Court at Santa Anita Park, 285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia.

Michelin starred restaurant La Botte is now offering a new casual dining concept called LApertivo. It will feature a seasonal, four-course tasting menu with a selection of wines chosen by chef and owner Stefano De Lorenzo. The menu will be priced at $20 and feature organic ingredients from local farmer’s markets. Dishes include a classic lasagna, Luna oysters, trout and mushroom gelato. The restaurant will also host a series of culinary events, beginning with “Chef^2“ an Italian and Japanese cooking collaboration with chef De Lorenzo and chef Mori Onodera.
