“I always wear ceramic jewelry inspired by animals,†says Chelsea Knights, 19, of Long Beach, who made the necklace and earrings she’s wearing. “I wear a lot of vintage mostly. I always wear heels because I want to be taller. I love all colors, so bright colors and black combinations are good too.â€
Belmont Shore resident Cheech -- who declined to give his last name -- says his look is a “combination old hippie wiseguy 2010. Not bad for 53, huh, brother?â€
“I don’t really believe in fashion rules,†says Katy Pole of Seal Beach, who is accessorizing with Marc Jacobs glasses and Guess earrings. “Wear what you want and what makes you happy, and it will never go out of style. Today I’m dressed for the mayor’s office.â€
The wardrobe of Casey Serra, 20, of Laguna Beach, is “all secondhand†and is a mix of ‘60s and ‘90s together.â€
“I would describe my style as street-oriented shabby gentility,†says Justin D’Angona, right, of Massachusetts. “It’s important for me to have my tongue on the pulse of youth culture.â€
“I try to match the color of the hat and the bag and the shoes, with the belt as the difference,†says 20-year-old Yukio Takahashi, who is originally from Japan but lives in Long Beach. His style as a whole? “Not too young. Try to be an adult.â€
“I like leggings and beanies and pea coats,†says Kelly Kissinger, 19, of Long Beach, who describes her style as “sexy, cute, comfortable and unique.†She’s holding Bella, a Basenji-Dingo mix.

Morgan Slade, 23, of Long Beach, says her look is usually “an indie version of what feels good at the moment, Afro-punk and counterculture. But I look pretty mainstream right now.†She’s wearing American Apparel and Michael Kors and carrying a Fendi bag.
“My bike is a black beach cruiser with dolphins,†says Ariel Borje, 17, of Long Beach. “I’m in a weird Bohemian-esque shirt and a bikini top and a sweater because I’m cold.â€
“I [usually] go for neutral but on a sunny day will go for a bright poppy color,†says Michelle Gann, 24, of Long Beach, who is wearing lace tights and a black miniskirt.
