Street Fashion: Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade

Emma Andersson, 20, from Sweden and living in Hollywood, says, “I like to dress pretty classic but with a touch of the latest fashion.†She’s wearing a Forever 21 dress and a necklace from Israel.
Russian-born Keni Silva lives with daughter Alexis, 1, in Newport Beach. “I used to model before studying fashion design. I like a classic style, casual and ladylike,†says Silva. “Alexis’ style is ‘pretty in pink.’ She doesn’t have a lot of hair so I have to dress her girly.†She laughs and adds, “This is her ‘Juicy Couture outfit.’†Keni is wearing a Chanel jacket, bag and shoes.
Amy May, 29, from England and living in Venice, just finished up her “pop acoustic†music set on the Promenade and described her style as “classic bohemian.†“I like Michael Kors and vintage.†Her fashion advice: “Be grateful, be happy.â€
Camilla Romestrand, from Norway, is lead singer for the band Doll’s House. “Whatever I’ve got I put it on and make the best of it.†Her style is “funky, a bit kooky at times. This is me being cold.â€
Joz Anderson, Doll’s House guitarist is from London and likes “leather jackets, lots of super-dry. Punk mixed with old school rock and electro.â€
“I don’t always dress like this,†says Esther Thompson from Santa Monica. “I like dark clothes normally, loose fitted Ts. Today my look is laid back with tennis shoes. The socks are American Apparel.â€
Alex Angelino, a fashion designer from Marina del Rey, is wearing his Angelino fashion line. “This kind of look is anti-establishment. Any wash that’s just on the jeans ... against the status quo.â€
Anthony Cooley, left, from South Central, likes “Unique, urban, vintage†and the 18-year-old’s fashion advice is “just be yourself.â€
Abass Kargbo, also from South Central, dresses “urban, unique, pretty boy.†He’s wearing a Joy Rich sweater and H & M shoes and says, “Do something positive with yourself.â€
Rebecca Grube, 28, from Pasadena, says, “I like to be comfortable and sexy. I have yoga pants in the trunk of my bike in case I get cold. I couldn’t afford a car when I moved and a bike was much cheaper.†Asked for adjectives describing her style, Rebecca replied, “Helmet and heels.â€
“I usually work birthday parties,†says Huitzilin the Clown, 25, from downtown L.A. “It takes me over an hour to put on the makeup and my costume was made by another clown. I always like to make people laugh.â€
“I just like piecing things together that I find places,†says Jesus Contreras, 21, of Santa Monica. “I like things that look older. I’m really nerdy and like to let that show whenever I can.â€
“I’m a dancer so I just put on comfortable clothes,†says Sanne Andersson, from Sweden and living in Westwood. “I just buy everything I like and that’s probably my style.†She’s wearing a Michael Kors watch, Marc Jacobs’ bag, and Cava scarf, shirt and leggings.
