‘Chicago’ writer-producer Michael Brandt lands a new location in Brentwood

Michael Brandt, a writer and executive producer for such “Chicago” franchise shows as “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Justice,” has found a new spot on the West Coast. He’s bought an estate in Brentwood for $5.11 million, or roughly $1 million less than the original asking price, records show.

Surrounded by trees, the two-story home sits at the end of a long driveway. A courtyard anchored by a sycamore tree sits just outside the front door, which opens to a three-story entry.

The roughly 6,500 square feet of interiors is characterized by clean lines, walls of glass and indoor-outdoor living spaces. The main floor holds a remodeled chef’s kitchen, a living room with a wet bar and a chandelier-topped formal dining room with pocket glass doors. Five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a powder room complete the floor plan.

A balcony overlooks the backyard, where a spacious patio and outdoor kitchen sit next to a swimming pool and spa. Elsewhere, stairs lead down to a sports court.

In addition to television dramas, Brandt, 49, also has found success in film. He wrote and directed the 2011 action movie “The Double,” and also co-wrote “Catch That Kid” (2004), “3:10 to Yuma” (2007) and “Wanted” (2008).
