It’s High Cuisine -- but It Isn’t French

Air Force One, following the lead of various U.S. restaurants and the House of Representatives cafeteria, is now French-free. The breakfast entree on board was “freedom toast topped with strawberries,” which normally would be called French toast.
References to French fries and French toast have become a target for some Americans angered by France’s opposition to a U.N. Security Council authorization for war against Iraq. White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer did not say whether Bush, who is careful about his diet, ate the renamed breakfast.
