U.S. to Give $2 Million to Woodbury University
Woodbury University, a business and architecture school in Burbank, will receive $2 million from the U.S. Department of Education to enhance programs for Latino students, school officials announced Friday.
The private college will receive the money over the next five years, with the first $417,000 scheduled to arrive in October, said Janet McIntyre, a spokeswoman for the four-year university.
“The money will go to improve programs that will specifically attract and retain Hispanic students,†McIntyre said.
“It will include everything from library technology to career counseling.â€
Founded in 1884, Woodbury has 1,342 students who pay an annual tuition of $17,000. About 30% of them are Latino, McIntyre said.
