Costco Cos., the nation’s largest operator of warehouse club stores, said its fiscal third-quarter earnings rose 29% to $85.2 million, or 38 cents a diluted share, from $66.3 million a year ago, beating analyst estimates by two cents. Revenue rose 10% to $5.34 billion, with a boost from a membership fee increase. Sales at stores open at least a year rose by 8%.
* Nine West Group Inc. said fiscal first-quarter profit fell 58% to $7.28 million, or 20 cents a diluted share, from a year earlier, the third straight drop for the nation’s largest maker of women’s shoes. The results missed analyst expectations by a penny. Revenue rose 10% to $448.3 million.
