A Glendale man believed to have been responsible for firing the stray bullet that wounded a 40-year-old customer inside a pool hall was arrested Tuesday, police said.
Yurik Khudanyan, 30, was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder after officers served a search and arrest warrant at Khudanyan’s home in the 1300 block of Western Avenue, Sgt. Lief Nicolaisen said.
Investigators think Khudanyan was among two groups of people who exchanged gunshots early Saturday outside George’s Billiards, 4006 San Fernando Road.
Zhirayr Ayvazyan, 40, of Glendale--an innocent bystander--was hit in the arm by one of the stray bullets, police said. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
During Tuesday’s arrest, police seized a 1988 red BMW and two handguns.
“At this point, we think we can prove that he (Khudanyan) hit Mr. Zhirayr (Ayvazyan),” Nicolaisen said.
Police also were looking for a second suspect in the case. No description was available.
Khudanyan was booked at Glendale City Jail and held in lieu of $1 million bail.
