NBC parent company General Electric gave 10 shares of G. E. stock as a “thank you†to every NBC employee who continued working during a 17-week strike against the company, a spokesman for the network said Tuesday. At $44.25 per share, that’s $440.25 in stock for the approximately 4,700 employees who qualified. The strike by the National Assn. of Broadcast Employees and Technicians involved another 2,800 NBC employees. A week before the walkout ended, NBC said it was ending 200 union jobs as part of a company-wide downsizing begun before the strike. More cuts are expected.
