Mexican Hideaway

Hernando’s Hideaway at Las Gatas, Mexico (April 7, by Harry Bernstein) is basically closed. Our reservations were accepted, then three days after our departure our travel agent was cabled that the place was closed. What’s left is run by a 21-year-old kid named Romero, who put us up for one night at 5,000 pesos. There was no bottled water, no refrigerator, no hammocks. We spent one night on mildewed sheets, shared the single towel given us, and the water was turned off about 8:30, so no flush toilet, no shower. Please print my letter so no one else experiences the Hernando American plan--taking Americans’ money.
