High School Roundup: Newport Harbor boys’ water polo improves to 2-0 in league

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 16, Fountain Valley 5

Cole Brosnan and Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt each scored four goals for the Sailors in Wednesday’s Sunset League game at Newport Harbor High.

Charlie Covina had three goals and three steals, and Makoto Kenney added two goals and three steals.

Max Sandberg made four saves and added three steals for Newport Harbor (11-4, 2-0 in league), which also got one save each from PJ Boyd and Andrew Potter.

The Sailors, ranked No. 7 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, play at No. 9 El Toro in a key nonleague game at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Estancia 12, Saddleback 6

Eizik Leyva made 15 saves for the Eagles in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League game at Estancia High.

Alex Epperson and Jason Chesemore each scored four goals for Estancia (6-8, 1-1 in league), and Cobi White had two. Chris Bauer and Victor Castillo also scored.

Sage Hill def. St. Margaret’s

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - Jamie Dailey had 13 kills and two aces to help lead the Lightning to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 Academy League win on Wednesday night.

Sophomores Amiyah De’Long and Sydnee Francis pitched in 12 and 10 kills respectively for Sage Hill (16-9, 8-0 in league).
