BOYS’ LACROSSE
Corona del Mar 14, Los Alamitos 6
LOS ALAMITOS — Eric Fries finished with five goals and four ground balls in the Sea Kings’ season opener on Saturday.
Will Favreau and Ryan Meckler each had three goals for CdM.
Nick Puglia won 17 of 23 faceoffs and came up with 11 ground balls.
BASEBALL
Sage Hill 7, Estancia 5
The visiting Lightning scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead in the Orange County Division game in the Newport Elks Tournament on Saturday.
Sage Hill’s Edward Pelc went three for four with three runs batted in, two doubles and two runs.
Sage Hill improved to 4-0.
Brian Rodriguez went three for four with two runs and an RBI for Estancia (2-3).
Rancho Alamitos 6, Costa Mesa 1
Christian Large had a hit and drove in a run for the host Mustangs in an Orange County Division Newport Elks Tournament game on Saturday.
The Mustangs dropped to 3-2.
Corona del Mar 5, Santa Fe 1
SANTA FE SPRINGS — Sophomore Tommy Wilcox threw a complete-game five-hitter for the Sea Kings in the nonleague game on Saturday.
Preston Hartsell, JT Schwartz, Alex Shadid and Matt Thompson each had two hits.
San Juan Hills 9, Newport Harbor 4
AJ Stefano went two for four with three RBIs for the Sailors on Saturday.
Brad Siegel doubled and Cade Seabold went one for two with an RBI for Newport Harbor (2-2).
