National Night Out safety fairs set for Tuesday in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa

Newport Beach and Costa Mesa police will join in National Night Out festivities Tuesday with events intended to educate the public about crime prevention.
Newport Beach police will host a safety fair with food from TK Burger and displays from crime scene investigation, SWAT, K-9, animal control, horseback enforcement, community emergency response and other units.
There also will be games, face painting and a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog.
The fair will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bonita Canyon Sports Park, 1990 Ford Road.
Costa Mesa will present a National Night Out fair from 5 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the Target shopping center at 3303 Harbor Blvd. It will include food, raffles and police and fire department displays.
National Night Out is observed annually by police departments around the country to help build relationships between police and residents.
