Fountain Valley driver checkpoint nets 2 arrests and 11 citations

One motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and 11 were issued citations on allegations of driving without a valid license during a Fountain Valley Police Department checkpoint last weekend.

Police said another driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and four vehicles were towed and/or impounded during the six-hour checkpoint, which began at 9 p.m. Friday on Warner Avenue at Magnolia Avenue.

A total of 701 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint, police said.

Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
