Traffic snarls are possible because of lane closures in Laguna Beach

Motorists could encounter traffic problems with the closure of some lanes in Laguna Beach, including a stretch of South Coast Highway because of utility undergrounding work.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, the westbound portion of Cliff Drive between Rosa Bonheur Drive and Aster Street will be closed so Laguna Beach County Water District crews can finish replacing fire hydrants in the area, according to a city news release.
A detour will be provided for westbound vehicles, the release said.
Then from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, one southbound lane of South Coast Highway near West Street will be closed as San Diego Gas & Electric Co. crews access an underground vault to do electrical work as part of the undergrounding of overhead utility wires, city public works director Shohreh Dupuis said.
This work was previously scheduled for Feb. 7, but inclement weather forced a postponement, the release said.
Dog park
Residents can now check lagunabeachcity.net for updates on whether the dog park at 20672 Laguna Canyon Road is open.
This winter’s storms have caused the city to occasionally close the park, as it did Friday, because of wet and muddy conditions.
