Biz News: 2015 O.C. Fair ranked 8th-largest for fair attendance in North America

For the second year in a row, the Orange County Fair was ranked the eighth-largest fair in attendance in North America by Venues Today magazine, and the Pacific Amphitheatre at the Costa Mesa fairgrounds maintained its rank as No. 15 among Top Stops in 2015.

The fair and the amphitheater’s Toyota Summer Concert Series took place in July and August.

The 2015 fair’s overall attendance of 1.3 million was marginally lower than in the previous year, but all other revenue increased, according to a news release.

The Pacific Amphitheatre, which held 24 shows with a combined attendance of 151,736 and a total gross of $5.36 million, ranked in Venues Today’s top 20 for concert gross by venues of its size (5,000 to 10,000 capacity).

The 2016 Orange County Fair, themed “Get Your Fair Face On” and featuring the summer concert series at the Pacific Amphitheatre, is scheduled for July 15 to Aug. 14.

Arbor Real Estate to award students with surfboards in campaign

Arbor Real Estate recently began its 2016 “Stoke a Student” contest in partnership with Surfside Sports in Costa Mesa.

Every other month until June, the campaign will conduct a drawing to award a surfboard to one elementary, junior high or high school student in the Newport Beach-Costa Mesa area, no purchase necessary. However, to get the surfboard, students whose names are drawn must show proof of a B-grade average or better in the past semester.

Newport design firm wins Houzz award

Myles Nelson McKenzie Design of Newport Beach was chosen for the 2016 Best of Customer Service award by users of Houzz, an online platform that connects homeowners and home design enthusiasts with homebuilding, remodeling and design industry professionals.

The 30-year-old residential and commercial design firm won the honor based on factors including the number and quality of reviews by its clients, according to a news release.
