Pet of the Week: Boomer

Seeking cover from the rain, Boomer approached a resident’s door and charmed his way inside. Now safe from the elements, he is mellow and laid back. He loves lounging in the sun and has become a shelter favorite, occasionally gaining attention with head butts.

Boomer gets along well with small dogs and shows curiosity around larger canines, but he would prefer being a household’s only cat or at least being allowed time to become friendly with a feline sibling. This 3-year-old is neutered, microchipped and FeLV/FIV negative. His tastes are simple — canned food and a soft bed for resting his 11-pound body.

Newport Beach has established a new animal shelter, at 20302 Riverside Drive. Boomer and his friends can be seen at the shelter. It is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and by appointment Sundays.
