MISSION VIEJO — Orange Coast College will play for third place Saturday after falling to top-seeded Fullerton, 9-6, in the semifinals Thursday at Saddleback College.
The No. 5-seeded Pirates defeated No. 4-seeded Saddleback, 8-5, in a quarterfinal clash Thursday.
OCC meets No. 3-seeded Riverside on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Biola def. Vanguard
COSTA MESA — Jamie Heenan had a match-high 25 kills for the Lions, who nearly upset No. 7-ranked Biola, which won, 25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-12, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match Thursday.
KaUwila Lavea had 16 kills for Vanguard (13-14, 5-13 in conference).

BERKELEY — Sarah Boyd and Ariel Castillo scored nine points each for the Lions in the exhibition game Thursday.

Turtle Bay Invitational
KAHUKU, Hawaii — UC Irvine freshman Ronnie Valerio posted her best collegiate performance with a second-place finish after carding a three-round score of 220 (73-74-73) Thursday at the Turtle Bay Resort.
Valerio was two shots shy of Portland State’s Tiffany Schoning, who earned medalist honors.
Sophomore Michelle Park finished in a tie for seventh with a score of 225 (70-75-80), while junior Lalita Patipaksiri was tied for 10th at 226 (75-74-77), her highest finish of the fall.
Freshman Taryn Yee placed 29th with a 54-hole score of 240 (81-83-76) and senior Patty Chawalitmetha was tied for 32nd at 246 (79-83-84).
The Anteaters finished fourth with a three-day total of 909 (297-306-306). Princeton won the team title with a score of 900 (299-304-297).
Portland State was second (900) and BYU was third (905). Southern Illinois finished fifth (928), host Hawaii was sixth (936) and British Columbia was seventh (949).
The Anteaters have completed the fall portion of their schedule and will resume action in February at the Northrop Grumann Challenge.
