High School Roundup: Costa Mesa boys’ basketball beats Hesperia Christian

Senior guard Nico Dasca finished with 33 points, and the Costa Mesa High boys’ basketball team defeated Hesperia Christian 78-61 in the Coach Mike’s Long Shot Challenge at home on Monday.
Osman Hefner had 20 points for the Mustangs (11-11). Ethan Elliott contributed 12 points and Tre Villalpando had nine assists.
Costa Mesa returns to Orange Coast League play at Orange on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Laguna Beach 67, Lancaster Antelope Valley 44: Nolan Naess scored 26 points for the Breakers in Monday’s Coach Mike’s Long Shot Challenge at Costa Mesa High.
Lucas Kravitz and Willie Rounaghi each made four three-pointers and finished with 12 points for Laguna Beach (10-14), which outscored the Antelopes 20-3 in the fourth quarter.
The Breakers play a Wave League game at Fountain Valley Wednesday at 7 p.m.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Laguna Beach 8, Newport Harbor 3: Morgan Van Alphen and Rachael Carver had two goals apiece for the visiting Breakers, who improved to 4-0 in the Surf League on Monday.
Carver and Grace Houlahan each had two assists, and Quinn Winter made 12 saves for Laguna Beach, which improved to 18-1 overall.
Taylor Smith and Brooke Banta scored for the Sailors (12-8, 1-3 in league).
