High school roundup: Costa Mesa softball wins twice at tournament

Katie Belmontes went a combined four for five with a double, a home run and five runs batted in as the Costa Mesa High softball team won its first two games of the Costa Mesa tournament on Saturday at home.
The Mustangs beat Century 7-3 before blanking Los Amigos 13-0.
Haley Sheffner had two hits in both games, while Alexis Litvak was two for two with a double against Los Amigos. Litvak won that game, while Haley Wolf improved to 3-3 this season by beating Century.
Costa Mesa (5-3) hosts Saddleback Valley Christian in a nonleague game Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
Huntington Beach 8, Murrieta Mesa 6: The Oilers improved to 3-3 after Saturday’s nonleague road win.
Huntington Beach opens Sunset League play at home against Newport Harbor on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Aliso Niguel 8, Edison 7 (OT): The Chargers fell to 2-3 after Saturday’s nonleague loss at Aliso Niguel High.
Edison plays host to El Dorado on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before opening Sunset League play at home against Marina on Thursday.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
San Marcos 12, Newport Harbor 10: Caroline Farley had five goals for the Sailors in Saturday’s nonleague game at Newport Harbor High.
Mariana Miller scored three goals and Joelle Rothbard added two for the Sailors (2-5).
