High School Roundup: Marina girls’ water polo earns first CIF victory since 2001

Taylor Lambert scored three goals, and the Marina High girls’ water polo team earned its first CIF Southern Section playoff win in 19 years with a 9-0 shutout of Menifee Paloma Valley in Tuesday’s Division 6 first-round match on the road.
Lily Ensley and Lana Kardos each had two goals for No. 3-seeded Marina (17-11). Maddie Clobes and Makenna Reynolds also scored.
Goalkeeper Emma Marsh made 10 saves for the Vikings, who play at Santa Paula in the second round Thursday.
Edison 13, La Verne Bonita 6: Sam Worley scored five goals for the Chargers in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs Tuesday at Ocean View High.
Edison (16-13) plays at Vista Murrieta in the second round Thursday.
Pacifica 8, Estancia 6: Sydni White scored three goals for the Eagles (18-10) in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs Tuesday at Costa Mesa High.
