Key Vikings: Sr. RB/DB Pharoah Rush (98 carries for 818 yards and 12 TDs); Sr. WR/DB/K Eric Church (25 catches for 461 yards and six TDs); Jr. WR/DB Dane Brenton (28 catches for 498 yards and nine TDs); Jr. QB Jack Miler (66 of 119 passing for 1,019 yards, 13 TDs and six INTs)
Key Hawks: Jr. RB/SS Mitch Leigber (148 carries for 963 yards and 11 TDs; 32 catches for 510 yards and 10 TDs; 109 tackles and 5.5 tackles for a loss); Jr. QB Hayden McKenna (49 of 103 passing for 722 yards, eight TDs and seven INTs); Sr. DE Cameron Richards (70 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks).
Breakdown: Marina (8-2) played Laguna Hills (5-5) in its season opener, and the teams face each other again in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 11 playoffs ... Marina, the Big 4 League champion making its first postseason appearance since 2001, is the No. 2 seed in Division 11 ... The Vikings beat Laguna Hills 33-20 in the season opener on Aug. 23, rallying from a 14-point first-half deficit despite a big night from Leigber, who had 331 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns ... Miller threw two long touchdowns for Marina in the win, a 73-yarder to Church and a 43-yarder to Justin Moen ... Laguna Hills went on to finish fourth in the five-team Sea View League, earning an at-large berth to the postseason. This is the program’s first CIF appearance since 2016 ... The Hawks enter CIF on a three-game losing streak, including last week’s 42-6 setback at San Juan Hills ... The winner of this game plays either Ontario Christian or Riverside Poly in the quarterfinals.
