College Roundup: Orange Coast men’s soccer snaps skid with win over Cypress

Takumi Taniguchi scored the first two goals and Jesus Flores had the third goal, and the Orange Coast College men’s soccer team ended a two-match losing streak with a 3-2 victory at home over Cypress in Tuesday’s Orange Empire Conference match.
Pablo Ramirez made four saves for the Pirates (10-3-3, 4-2-2 in conference). Danny Vargas had two assists.
Orange Coast plays at Irvine Valley on Friday at 3 p.m.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown: UC Irvine finished in 17th place in tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., on Tuesday.
The Anteaters finished with a three-day total of 928 strokes, but the 296 they recorded on Tuesday was the second-lowest round of the season for UCI.
Sophomore Madison Riggs shot an even-par 72 in the final round. Riggs had three birdies on the front nine, and she led UCI with a 37th-place showing (228).
UCI junior Cameron Lee also had three birdies in the final round, carding a 73. She finished 41st at 229.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Cypress 7, Orange Coast 7: The visiting Pirates lost for the fourth time in their last five matches, falling to 5-10-2 overall and 2-6-1 in the Orange Empire Conference on Tuesday.
Santiago Canyon 3, Golden West 0: The host Rustlers dropped to 6-7-2 overall and 3-5-1 in the Orange Empire Conference after Tuesday’s match.
