A Newport Beach man was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance in connection with a fire at his apartment, police said Monday.
Bryan Ray Montgomery, 22, was initially taken to the hospital for injuries he suffered due to a fire at his apartment about 4:45 p.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of Residencia, according to Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.
He was taken to Western Medical Center with significant burns, but evidence at the apartment indicated to officers that he may have been manufacturing a controlled substance and he was later arrested at the hospital, Lowe said.
