Checkpoint tonight on Bristol

Costa Mesa police will be conducting a DUI checkpoint today from 6 to 11 p.m. on Bristol Street between Bear Street and Randolph Avenue.

The checkpoint, funded by the state Office of Traffic Safety, will screen drivers for drivers license violations and those under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

DUI checkpoints aren’t conducted with the idea of netting more arrests; rather they are used as a reminder of the law and deterrent for potential drunk drivers, police said.
