Huntington Beach police are looking for a man suspected to be involved in a 2002 kidnapping of a 37-year-old Surf City man.
Police are looking for Nasir Kamarudin Shamsi, 48, after he failed to show up to court for a bail hearing Dec. 14.
Shamsi is one of six people allegedly involved in kidnapping Sohiel Daliri for ransom in 2002. The five other men have been convicted and sentenced for the kidnapping.
Shamsi made bail and the case has been continued over the years, until he failed to show up in December and a warrant for his arrest was issued, officials said.
Shamsi was allegedly part of the group that kidnapped Daliri on March 18, 2002, from his home.
He was held against his will for more than two weeks in various locations across Orange County and Los Angeles.
Huntington Beach detectives found Daliri in a Long Beach motel room after the kidnappers contacted his girlfriend to demand ransom.
They found the suspects when they used the victim’s stolen credit cards.
Shamsi is 5-foot-9, 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be in Orange County, officials said.
Anyone will information about him is asked to call the Huntington Beach Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit at (714) 536-5940.
