Sea Kings honored

Corona del Mar High swept the top honors in the All-CIF Southern Section boys’ soccer selections announced Monday.

Senior forward Reed Williams was named Offensive Player of the Year, junior midfielder Brian Ford was the Defensive Player of the Year and George Larsen was Coach of the Year in Division IV.

CdM sophomore goalkeeper Connor Gaal was a first-team honoree for the Sea Kings, who went 27-1-1, won the Division IV section crown and then won the CIF Division II Southern California Regional title as well.

Sage Hill School senior defender Ben Capaldi was a first-team choice in Division VII.

Sophomore fullback Jack Gorab and freshman forward Jack McBean represented CdM on the second team.

Junior forward Taylor Ross was a second-team honoree for Sage.

Williams, bound for UCLA, scored 32 goals and added 12 assists.

Ford had 11 goals and four assists and, along with Gaal (115 saves) helped the Sea Kings amass 17 shutouts.

McBean had eight goals and 11 assists, while Gorab, a catalyst on free kicks, had seven goals and seven assists.
