NEWPORT BEACH — Cody Caldwell recorded 30 kills to help lead the Sailors to a 25-17, 17-25, 25-14, 28-30, 15-10 nonleague win Tuesday.

Will Connelly had 15 kills and eight blocks, Jackson Carmack amassed 49 assists and Connor Curry added 13 digs for Newport Harbor (2-0).

The Sailors will next play in the Orange County Championships, which start Friday.

COSTA MESA — Jim Nelson had 12 kills to pace the host Eagles in a 17-25, 25-9, 25-15, 25-17 nonleague setback Tuesday.

Kohl Jones had 10 kills and Austin Knott added nine digs for Estancia (2-3).

The Eagles play host to Ocean View today.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Michael Yorita went four for four to lead the Lightning’s 21-hit attack in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Yorita also had six runs and two runs batted in. Dusty Orrantia went three for five with six RBIs and three runs, and Sean Vogel was three for six with four RBIs and three runs. Jack Heffron and Alex Jimenez added two hits each. Heffron and A.J. Wolfson had a home run each.

Sage Hill (3-3) will play at St. Margaret’s Friday.

COSTA MESA — Josh Dominguez went two for three for the Eagles in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Estancia (4-2) plays against crosstown rival Costa Mesa Friday at 3:15 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Sea Kings senior Josh Starnes shot par 35 to share medalist honors in the nonleague match Tuesday at Newport Beach Country Club.

John Davenport (37), Tanner Trauthen (28), Ryan Grable (38) and Jono Keedy (39) also scored for CdM (6-1).

Mission Viejo fell to 5-2.

CdM plays host to Servite today at NBCC.

ALISO VIEJO — Sailors senior Travis Russell shot one-under-par 34 to share medalist honors with Aliso Niguel’s Mark Jensma in a nonleague match at Aliso Viejo Golf Club Tuesday.

Russell will play for University of Hawaii at Hilo on a full scholarship, Newport Harbor Coach Scott Tarnow said.

Junior Zach Eddy and senior Kawika Morse each shot 36, while junior Marcus Kiel and sophomore Carter Norris both shot 38 for Newport (3-2).

The Sailors play against Dana Hills Thursday at Big Canyon Country Club.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

NEWPORT BEACH — Amanda Olevsky scored four goals for the Sailors in their Sunset League opener Tuesday.

Junior attack Taylor Cordeiro added two goals and two assists and junior Sierra Michaelsen added two goals. On defense, Lauren Rojas-Sanchez contributed with two interceptions.

The Sailors (3-2) play at Sage Hill Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

BOYS’ TENNIS

COSTA MESA — Kevin Thomas, the Eagles’ No. 1 singles player, won, 6-1, against Orange Lutheran’s No. 3 in a nonleague match Tuesday.

Freshman Robert Marrone, who plays No. 2 singles, also beat the Lancers’ No. 3, earning a 7-6 (8) victory.

Estancia (2-3) beat Ocean View Monday. After tying, 9-9, the Eagles won on games, 80-76.

Estancia plays host to Magnolia Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

Laguna Beach 11,

Sage Hill 7

NEWPORT BEACH — No. 1 singles player Andrew Kurzweil won twice for the Lightning in the nonleague match Tuesday at The Tennis Club.

Denis Cirit also won in singles for Sage Hill (0-7). The Lightning’s No. 1 doubles team of Alex Manolakas and Kevin Marshack won twice.

Sage Hill will play host to Newport Harbor Thursday at The Tennis Club.
