Viola Mae Winn 79, of Grover Beach,
California, passed away on March 1, 2010
in Arroyo Grande, CA.
Vi is predeceased by her husband of 54
years, Newport Beach Fire Captain Oscar
“Andy” Winn.
Born Viola Mae Peralta in Los Angeles
on June 12, 1930, Vi married Andy in 1948
and with her family moved to Newport
Beach in 1955. Vi and Andy retired to the
Central Coast of California in 1980.
Known to her friends as ‘Vi’ she was a
gracious woman who befriended anyone who met her. An avid
bridge player, Vi had circles of friends along the Central Coast as
well as Orange County.
Vi was primarily a homemaker, but for many years worked as a
specialty clerk and custom gift wrapper for Richards Lido Market.
She was a member of the choir at Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Catholic Church and sang with the Sweet Adelines in the 1960’s.
To her close relatives Vi was known as “Happy” because of her
positive disposition since childhood. Vi is survived by her children,
Gary Winn (Karin) and Rosana Winn. Vi was a loving grandmother
to Ryan, Renee, and Evan Winn, and Randy and Paul Scudder.
She had three great grandchildren.
Vi will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
