Eader raises funds with YMCA center for Haiti

For the past month, students at Eader Elementary School demonstrated the importance of giving back as they raised money to help the people of Haiti.
The school partnered up with its on-site YMCA center and held a relief donation program called “Change for Cause,” in which spare change was collected.
Principal Cynthia Guerrero said there wasn’t a specific goal. Rather, it was to raise as much money as they could in a month. She said that the program was successful and that it was heartwarming to see that students were dedicated to help out the cause.
Guerrero recalled a particular group of students who would donate a dollar after each school day for a month while another group of students opened up a lemonade stand and raised $15 for the collection fund.
The money gathered will be donated Friday to the YMCA International to help fund the supply for food and shelter in Haiti after January’s devastating earthquake.
