Anteaters’ DuFault shares top honor
UC Irvine junior outside hitter Jordan DuFault has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Player of the Week in men’s volleyball.
DuFault had a career-high 30 kills in a five-set loss to No. 1-ranked USC Saturday, the second best single-match total by an MPSF player this season.
It is only the second time since 2004 that a UCI player has had at least 30 kills. Jon Steller had 32 kills against Hawaii that season.
DeFault had 19 kills in a four-game conference win over Pepperdine Wednesday, including seven kills in the clinching set.
An All-American on the 2009 NCAA championship team, DuFault averaged 5.44 kills per set and 5,89 points, while recording a hitting percentage of .426 for the week.
UCI, ranked No. 4, visits No. 2-ranked Cal State Northridge Wednesday at 7 p.m.
