Photo gallery to continue series

The Vanguard University Center for Women’s Studies will present the next event in its Women in Leadership series, “Coming Alive,” at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the campus’ Needham Chapel, 55 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa.

Vanguard University alumna Joanna “Joey” Paynter, class of 2008, will present a gallery of her photography.

“Connecting women in leadership with Vanguard students will create a stronger network of collaboration and partnership for continuing our mission to study the issues, be a voice and make a difference,” said center Director Sandra Morgan.

Paynter has traveled to 31 countries, volunteering with prostitutes and lepers in Thailand; aborigines in Australia; and medical centers in the Solomon Islands.

She has worked on photojournalism projects in the Middle East, Bali, South Africa, Panama, and Brazil.

Paynter helped create a 30-day Christian devotional, “A Voice for the Voiceless,” which has been translated into nine languages; more than 100,000 copies have been distributed worldwide. For more information, visit vanguard.edu/cws.
