COSTA MESA — Mike VanDeripe had 301 passing yards and three touchdowns as the Golden West College football team topped San Bernardino Valley, 41-21, on Saturday at Orange Coast College.
It was the fifth straight victory for the Rustlers, who improved to 5-4, 5-1 in the American Mountain Conference. If they win Saturday against San Diego Southwestern they will be bowl-eligible.
Brandon Grissom had four catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns against SBVC. Bryce Blake also had four catches, for 100 yards and score. On the ground, Harold Williams had 60 yards and a touchdown.
The Rustlers had four interceptions — one each by Bernard Williams, Ricky Pemasa, Jodare Lewis and Tommy Cogburn.
MEN’S SOCCER
The Golden West College men’s soccer team topped Irvine Valley, 1-0, on Friday, its fifth straight win. Justin Thompson scored the Rustlers’ lone goal, assisted by Austin Rovazinni, and Bill Hambelton made five saves for his fifth shutout in the last seven games.
Golden West improved to 11-6-1.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Rustlers fell to 12-7 after dropping a match at Fullerton Friday. Game scores were 25-16, 21-25, 23-25 and 15-25.
