Roger lost his fierce battle with Parkinson’s on October 19, 2009
at the age of 82 years. Born in Concord, Massachusetts to
Roger Shaw, Sr. and Helen Botsch Shaw on June 22, 1927. After graduation from Dartmouth High School he joined the Navy in 1946, where we was a Bursar. After the service, he joined Union
Carbide (later to become Dow Chemical) and had an adventurous position in accounting that enabled him to travel around the east coast. He enjoyed plays, concerts and all that New York City had to offer. An avid jazz fan and sports enthusiast, one of his favorites was the Boston Red Socks and Los Angeles Lakers. After an early retirement, Roger set out on world travel – Rome, London, Scotland, Greece and on one of his trips to he met the love of his life, Dorothy Kemp Shaw. They met in Morocco and two years later they were married in Newport Beach, California on November 3, 1990.They kept homes for a few years in Connecticut and California but settled on their home in Newport Beach, California. They continued to travel together – Hawaii, China, Alaska, and Quebec and sailed on many cruises, always enjoying their time together. The last two months they have been living in assisted living at Emeritus in Carmel Valley, California. Roger is survived his loving wife, Dorothy of San Diego, his brother, Kim and niece Martha Nevill, and nephew, Peter Shaw, all of Massachusetts. He is also survived by Dorothy’s children, Elizabeth Minno (Jim), David Kemp (Kathy), Barbara Kalmbach (Kurt) and Mary Baker. Grandchildren are Matt Kemp, Kurt and Jack Minno, Emily, Alison, Peter and Parker Kalmbach, Andrew and Jeffrey Baker. He will be missed by all. Please sign the guest book.
