Carlos Aguilar recorded the assist for UCI (2-0).

Andrew Fontein had two saves in his shutout.

IRVINE — Adam Holstein scored for the Lions in the nonconference loss Saturday.

Tomislav Colicc had the assist in the 58th minute for Vanguard (1-1).

IRVINE — The Anteaters improved to 4-1 after their win in the UC Irvine Invitational Friday night.

Freshman Dana Sanderlin scored, as did freshman Sarah Devine and sophomore Lexi Kopf. Junior Tayna Taylor had an assist.

COSTA MESA — The Lions dropped to 6-3 after two losses in the Crowne Plaza Labor Day Tournament Saturday at Vanguard.

Jamie Heenan led the Lions with 16 kills, but Lewis Clark reeled off the 25-14, 20-25, 27-25, 16-25, 15-12 victory.

Heather DeJongh recorded a match-high 21 kills and Meghan Walsh amassed 42 assists in the Lions’ loss to Jamestown, which wno 25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23.
