Police Files:

A Moreno Valley man was arrested last week on suspicion of burglarizing a local cell-phone store and receiving stolen property. Allen Rhodes, 20, was arrested Aug. 14 on the 55 Freeway near MacArthur Boulevard after employees at a T-Mobile on 17th Street in Costa Mesa told police he had stolen two phones from there and walked out without paying.

Police said Rhodes walked in, cut the cords holding two of the display phones in place and left. When he was arrested, police found the phones, two more phones possibly from another burglary and learned he had two warrants out for his arrest and was driving a stolen vehicle, said Sgt. Bryan Glass. He said police are seeing cell phones stolen in similar methods more this year. Rhodes has pleaded not guilty to four felonies.

Tustin Avenue: An attempted burglary as reported in the 2000 block at 12:39 p.m. Wednesday.

Irvine Avenue: A petty theft was reported in the 1600 block at 12:58 p.m. Wednesday.

Fullerton Avenue: A vehicle was reported burglarized in the 1900 block at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday.

South Coast Drive: A petty theft was reported in the 900 block at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Balboa Boulevard and West Coast Highway: A suspicious vehicle was reported at 12:58 a.m. Thursday.

Production Place and Placentia Avenue: A suspicious person was reported at 2:26 a.m. Thursday.
