Transformers 2nd at Western Nationals
The South Huntington Beach Transformers finished second over the weekend at the American Softball Assn. girls’ Fast-pitch 12-and-under “B†Western National Championships in Milwaukie, Ore.
The team, coached by Steve Caswell, made it to Sunday’s finals undefeated before falling twice to Bonita Valley of Bonita, 3-2 and 10-2.
Hosoi wins gold at X Games
Huntington Beach resident Christian Hosoi won the skateboard park legends event at X Games 15 Sunday at the Home Depot Center in Carson.
Another Surf City resident, Nyjah Huston, took second in the skateboard street men’s competition.
Huston’s score of 364 was bested only by Northridge’s Paul Rodriguez (390).
Youth Sports day is Saturday
The Huntington Beach Centennial Committee has announced that Youth Sports Day will be held at the HB Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The theme of the day is “Introducing Sports to Youth.â€
There will be demonstrations of lacrosse, field hockey, volleyball soccer and skateboarding, as well as a softball game between the North and South Huntington Beach leagues.
