The Huntington Beach City School District is expanding its preschool program with a new classroom for 4-year-old students at John R. Peterson Elementary School in September.
The district’s current three classrooms are full, with children on a waiting list, according to Cynthia Oddy, preschool clerk for the Huntington Beach City School District.
“Due to popular demand, we are opening a new preschool program,” Oddy said.
The preschool will bring in an estimated 22 children in each of its three schedules. The classes are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a 12 to 1 student-teacher ratio.
“Our program is designed to flow into the [Huntington Beach City School District] kindergarten curriculum to ease transition,” Oddy said.
The program will accept children as young as 3 years, 6 months old for its new class, according to Oddy. Enrollment is going on now. For more information, call (714) 964-8888, ext. 2033.
