Construction punctures gas line

A 3-inch hole was punched on a gas line at 10:29 a.m. Tuesday, at Vista del Oro and Vista Parada, in Newport Beach. Just two residences didn’t have gas for the morning, according to the Southern California Gas Company.

The area affected was very small, restricted to the corner where the leak occurred, gas company spokeswoman Sabra Moallem said. Police shut down traffic at Vista del Oro and Vista Parada up to Eastbluff Drive.

No one was hurt, according to Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Schulz. The problem was resolved by noon and there were no evacuations because of the leak.
