Laguna Beach High senior Holden Penney has been named Most Valuable Player of the Orange Coast League for girls’ soccer.
She is joined on the first team by junior teammates Kelsey Peterson and Jessie Good Man.
Penney, Peterson and Good Man, all defenders, helped anchor a Breakers defense that allowed just 20 goals in 25 games. Laguna Beach gave up more than one goal just twice all season.
Penney had an assist in the Breakers’ 2-1 CIF Southern Section Division III wild-card victory over Artesia, Laguna’s first playoff win in years.
Laguna finished 11-5-9, and 4-2-2 in league.
