Estancia girls set to face defending co-champions

The Estancia High girls’ soccer team will play host to Mayfair of Lakewood in a rematch of last year’s CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs today at 3 p.m. at Jim Scott Stadium.

The teams meet again in the second round. This time, the Monsoons (18-8-1) are seeded No. 4. Last year they were the top seed and knocked off Estancia, 3-0, on their way to winning a share of the CIF championship with La Mirada.

Estancia (11-7-5) beat Westridge, 3-2 in the first round, the Eagles’ second playoff victory since 1993.

The winner of today’s match will advance to the quarterfinals Thursday to face of the Pacifica-Troy matchup.
