Senator: College students should apply for grants
- Share via
State Sen. Tom Harman is urging California college students to apply for the Cal Grant by the March 2 deadline.
The grants, which do not need to be paid back, are made available by the state to any graduating high school senior or recent graduate who meets the academic, financial and eligibility requirements, Harman wrote.
Students can receive up to $9,700 to attend any California college, university, career or technical school in California; depending on the grant, the funds can be used for tuition, room and board, books or other educational expenses.
To apply, submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a verified Cal Grant GPA form before the March 2 deadline.
Both forms are available online or at high schools or colleges. Some schools submit the GPA form on behalf of the student.
