‘Eaters’ Mosey honored

UC Irvine senior Nick Mosey was named Big West Conference Athlete of the Week in men’s cross country after finishing first among 135 runners in the Asics/UCI Invitational Sept. 6.

He completed the 8,000-meter course in 12 minutes, 14.30 seconds to win his first collegiate title. UCI finished second in the team competition.

The conference’s Athlete of the Week awards spanned the past two weeks of competition based on the number of league teams that competed.

The UCI women’s team is ranked No. 8 in the West Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Assn. The men’s squad is ranked 13th.

Both Anteater teams return to competition Saturday at the Stanford Invitational.
