A brighter past

The former Melrose Antiques in Corona del Mar just reinvented itself as the new and improved Charlene Asdourian Antiques. Owner Charlene Asdourian gave her exquisite antique shop a brighter, fresher look. She also added new period deco pieces, stunning art glass, vintage glass orbs, and custom lighting that includes shell-shaped sconces carved from a single piece of quartz and rock crystal chandeliers.

Her store is a major find for fine antique dealers and collectors who would normally drive up to Los Angeles seeking distinctive antiques. Charlene has an eye for high-quality antiques from her studies in antiquities, classical French architecture and textiles at the Sorbonne in Paris. She’s enthralled with antiques — and never buys online. She prefers to feel and see first-hand the inside of drawers, detail work and nuances that you can’t see in images.

The store at 3641 E. Coast Highway, Corona del Mar, is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call (949) 723-4300 or visit www.charleneasdourian antiques.com.
