Loraine was born September 24, 1918 in Colon, Panama, where her father, William Harold Grubbs, a reporter covering the canal’s construction, and mother, Adelaide Louise (nee Tuley) resided. She grew up in Berkeley, CA, along with two younger sisters, Margaret (Peggy) and Jeanne. Loraine wed Sterling Horace Wolfe on December 29, 1939 in The Little Church of Hollywood, and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Loraine lead a full life, devoting much of her time to charitable service. While residing in Newport Beach, she was active for over twenty years in the Nightingale Auxiliary at Hoag Hospital. After enjoying a vacation home in Coronado for a number of years, they relocated there permanently. In Coronado, she served as a Deaconess at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church and a member of the Garden Club, among other volunteer organizations. She was the consummate hostess, opening her home for wonderful gatherings and holidays. Travel was also a passion. She accompanied her husband on business and pleasure trips to nearly one hundred countries. In 2006, she moved to The Inn at the Park in Irvine, CA to be closer to family. She developed many friendships at The Inn and was a spirited member of the community.
