KNAPP’S TIME ENDS
SAN DIEGO — Stewart Hagestad, a Newport Beach resident, is tied for 14th with four others after shooting even-par 72 in the second round of the boys’ 15-17 division of the Junior World Golf Championships at the Torrey Pines South Course Wednesday.
Hagestad (76-72, four-over 148) was tied for 33 after the first day. He’ll play in the third round today, trying to qualify for Friday’s final round.
Tao Huang of Tawaiin leads the division at 70-72, 142.
Jake Knapp, who will be a freshman at Estancia High in the fall, ended his competition in the boys’ 13-14 division after missing the cut at the Riverwalk Golf Club Wednesday. He shot a four-over-par 76 in the second round, 12-over 84 Tuesday to end 16-over 160.
MOORHEAD MOVES UP
SANTA MARGARITA — Michael Moorhead, a Newport Beach resident shot three-over-par 75 and is tied for 32nd with four others after two rounds in the American Junior Golf Assn. CORE Realty Holdings Junior Open Wednesday at Tijeras Creek Golf Club.
Moorhead moved up five spots from Tuesday, when he carded a 77 in the first round. He is at eight-over 152 after two rounds.
Benjamin Lein of Diamond Bar remains in the lead after his one-under-par 71 in the second round and is nine-under-par 135 thus far.
