Lifeguards are making it back to the small screen, as the cable reality show “Ocean Force: Huntington Beach, OC” started filming its second season in town this week.
The show, which follows lifeguards handling day-to-day problems, was a hit for the channel TruTV, drawing 1,716,000 prime-time viewers last year, according to the city’s contract with the channel. If it works out again, the contract allows the option to film as many as five more seasons.
Marine Safety Chief Kyle Lindo called the show a success that even produced an episode usable as a training video. Money made by filming goes to lifeguards’ equipment needs.
